Gentle Giant – “Funny Ways” video
Giant Giant takes the stage in 1974 for a performance of “Funny Ways,” from the band’s self-titled 1970 debut. Words fail to describe the power and finesse and creativity and virtuosity of this group of five. It’s just another song for Gentle Giant, though, as vocalist Derek Shulman takes bass guitar duties mid-song as brother Ray switches to violin and then trumpet and keyboardist Kerry Minnear alternates between cello, keys before a blistering vibe solo. Listen as Gary Green expertly keeps the mood, strumming unsettling minor chords, and drummer John Weathers hits nearly everything in his kit.
