Van Halen 2012 tour with David Lee Roth | Dream setlist
Van Halen has announced a 2012 tour with David Lee Roth once again at the microphone. First tickets go on sale January 10. I never got to see VH back in the glory days of the early 80s, so I’m hoping to catch a show this time around. Too bad, though, Michael Anthony is out of the mix.

I’ve put together a suggested setlist of 20 Van Halen songs that I would want to hear from the Roth era. In no particular order, save for the first and last songs, “On Fire” and “Romeo Delight,” which would make awesome intros and show-cappers:
- On Fire
- Ice Cream Man
- Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love
- Fools
- In A Simple Rhyme
- Everybody Wants Some
- Hot For Teacher
- Panama
- Unchained
- Mean Street
- Somebody Get Me A Doctor
- So This Is Love
- The Full Bug
- Saturday Afternoon In The Park
- Outta Love Again
- Light Up The Sky
- D.O.A
- Atomic Punk
- On Fire
- Romeo Delight
Strong list! Seeing VanHalen play these 20 songs would easily be one of the most memorable days of my life! But, in my absolutely perfect world I would make 2 small adjustments. Ice Cream Man would be fun. No doubt, Roth would be ridiculously entertaining during that song, but I want VH to rock me into submission with this show. Open with On Fire, yes, but then don’t let up one bit – right into I’m The One. Then later in the set, you’d think I’d be looking for a cool down after The Full Bug, but no way. Lose Sunday Afternoon In The Park (it is Sunday, right?), and hit me with Sinner’s Swing! Now that’s a brutal VanHalen rock assault! Oh, and on the ride home, I’m listening to Loss Of Control in the car! Thank you! Goodnight!
I’m with you K.St. – I want a non-stop, rock-me-into-submission set list. No “Jamie’s Cryin'” or “Dance The Night Away,” for me, though I know that’s not realistic.
Great call on “I’m The One” – not sure how I left that one out.
