The Henry Paul Band – “Grey Ghost” live video

This Friday (July 15) I’ll be in Walker, Minnesota, attending Moondance Jam. The day’s lineup includes The Outlaws, Eddie Money, Paul Rodgers and Kiss. I’ve never seen The Outlaws in concert before, and I’m getting pumped up watching some recent and earlier video footage of the band and offshoot, Henry Paul Band. Most Southern Rock fans know that Henry Paul was an original Outlaws member and is back with the band today, along with original drummer Monte Yoho, guitarists Billy Crain and Chris Anderson, bassist Randy Threet and keyboardist Jon Coleman. Of the huge list of underrated guitar players, Crain has to be right at the top. He was – and is – an absolute blazer and puts everything into his solos. I’ve been watching Crain, from his days with the Henry Paul Band, tearing the roof off on “Grey Ghost,” the band’s tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd‘s Ronnie Van Zant. The first solo is by Jim Fish, 1/3rd of the HPB’s triple-guitar attack and a great player, too. Then Crain takes off into the ether. Can’t wait to see him live.
